Summary




This 3D-printed tape holder is designed to be mounted on a pegboard and is highly versatile. This holder holds the tape perpendicular to the pegboard, making it easy to dispense tape while it's still mounted. Additionally, the spool itself is easily detachable, providing flexibility when you need to take the tape off the holder.

The major goals when designing this were:
  • Generic Solution (Parametric): The design can be customized to fit almost any tape spool.
  • Easy Dispensing: The tape is positioned to allow dispensing directly from the pegboard.
  • Detachable Spool: The tape spool can be easily removed, making it convenient to switch or use the tape off the holder.
This is a parametric design created in OpenSCAD. I’ve also included three ready-to-print Kapton tape holders:

  • kapton_tape_holder_25mm.stl
  • kapton_tape_holder_40mm.stl




Customization



  1. Download the SCAD File: The original SCAD file is provided for those who need to customize the tape holder size. This allows you to adjust the holder to fit any spool width and diameter.
  2. Modify Parameters: Open the SCAD file in OpenSCAD. The key parameters you might want to change are:
    • tape_inner_diameter – adjust this to match the inner diameter of your tape spool.
    • tape_max_outer_diameter – set this to the maximum outer diameter of your tape spool.
    • tape_width – adjust this to match the width of your tape spool.
    • tape_part_thickness – modify this to alter the thickness of the tape holder parts.
    • tab_height – change this to adjust the height of the tabs that secure the tape.
  3. Render and Export: After making your changes, render the design and export it as an STL file.
  4. Print: Use your preferred print settings to produce your customized tape holder.
